Home Owner Tips: Removing Shingle Fungus

On April 24, 2006, the Minneapolis StarTribune ran an article on how to Prevent or Kill Shingle Fungus. Their best suggestion for prevention is to install algae-resistant shingles or to insert copper strips into the shingles at intervals.

There are many local roofing companies (some are listed on the the Buyers Real Estate Group web site) that can help with shingle fungus. You can also try to remove the algae yourself with a application of a mixture of chlorine bleach and water but you’ll need to protect yourself and your lawn in the process.
