What are the top three words of advice when buying a home – location, location, location! We’ve all heard it. Sometimes location is dictated by a job, family, or other extenuating circumstance. But all things being equal, home buyers generally want a crime-free area, good schools, and a community that suits their personality.
In Minnesota there are a few resources that will help you investigate a potential new neighborhood:
Minnesota School Report Cards – will tell you how a school or school district rates with attendance, graduation levels, standardized test scores are more.
Minnesota Milestones – a searchable database of statistics related to Minnesota, including crime statistics. You can also call the local police department; they can provide firsthand information.
Melissa Data – allows you to search for demographics of a neighborhood by zip. It will tell you about the demographics, economy, moving trends of an area – including recent average house prices.
